Wittman W.8 Tailwind G-BMHL at Grindale airfield.

On Sunday, 24th August 1986 this aircraft took off from the pilot and owner's home airstip at Octon Grange, near Foxholes for a flight in the local area. On his return, the he deemed the wind to be too strong at his airstrip for a landing so diverted to land at Grindale airfield. He landed there at 10.07hrs but the wind was much stronger despite it having a longer landing run. The aircraft bounced and began to roll to the left but before he could apply power and take of again, the left wing tip struck the ground. This then caused the aircraft cartwheel and then flip over. It sustained a damaged wing tip, propeller and fuselage. The aircraft was registered to Mr Timothy George Hoult, of Foxholes, at the time who was probably the pilot at the time of this incident.

Pilot - Mr Timothy George Hoult.
