At 16.00hrs on 20th April 1984 this glider winch-launched at Dishforth airfield but having climbed to 150 feet the pilot noticed the elevator control was not working. Having reached 300 feet above the ground and with the speed increasing the pilot released the winch cable but had no elevator control so decended into the largest open field but it crashed while landing. The disconnection of the elevator at the tailplane was investigated. This aircraft was owned by the Hambletons Gliding Club who were based at Dishforth airfield.
