EoN Olympia 463 BGA.1370 at Rufforth airfield.
At 16.40hrs on 21st July 1984 the airbrakes of this glider opened at 75 feet above the ground whilst on an aero tow-launch. The pilot did not notice this had happened and after he released the tow cable at 400 feet he attempted to return to the airfield but was too low. It made a slow turn to land in a field but groundlooped and then struck a fence whilst travelling backwards. The pilot later stated that he was unaware that the airbrakes were extended. In the 1984-85 British Soaring Handbook this glider is listed as registered to M.Lannen, who based it at Rufforth.
