Schleicher ASK-13 BGA.1436 near Burn airfield.
On 14.00hrs on Sunday, 11th December 1983 this glider was being flown very low and fast by two instructors during a landing run at Burn airfield. It was seen flying at 15 feet above the ground above a field and the pilots failed to avoid a line of 11.000 volt power lines in their path. The glider flew through the wires which smashed the canopy and the starboard wing was damaged but despite this and it carrying away a length of cable it went on to land normally. The glider was registered to Burn Gliding Club, based at Burn airfield.
