Jodel DR.1050 Ambassadeur G-AWEN at Crosland Moor airfield.
At 18.40hrs on Thursday, 11th August 1983 this aircraft swung on landing at Crosland Moor airfield. The pilot overcorrected the swung and attempted to take off again but the tailwheel clipped a stone wall that lay ahead of the aircraft. This then caused the aircraft to crash into the next field but as a second wall was ahead of the aircraft the pilot then deliberately groundlooped to minimize the impact. It struck this wall with a wing and was damaged. Both pilot and passenger were uninjured.
The aircraft was registered to Messers Lewis Geoffrey Earnshaw, Rodney Shaw, Edric Morton Pearson and David Michael Whitham. It was presumably based at Crosland Moor airfield, where the last named lived.
