Jet Provost T.5 XW293 at Leconfield airfield.

On 31st March 1982 Jet Provost XW293, of No.6 Flying Training School, sustained repairable damage as the result of a forced landing at Leconfield.

Jet Provost XW293 was built to contract KC/E/124 by BAC Ltd. Construction was initially at Luton but was completed at Warton and it was awaiting collection on 13th November 1969. It was then taken on charge by the Central Flying School on the same date. On 18th April 1975 it was flown to Leeming to be stored. On 28th November 1975 it was taken on charge by No.6 Flying Training School at Finningley. It was damaged at Leconfield on 31st March 1982. Cat.3R damage was the damage assessment, it was repaired on site and returned to No.6 F.T.S. charge once servicable. On 22nd June 1993 it went to 27 MU at Shawbury. On 28th April 1995 it was sold to Downbird UK Ltd. at Burton on Trent, who based it at Tatenhall and it was registered on the UK civilian register as G-BWCS. In July 1999 it was sold to R.E.Todd at Doncaster. On 27th January 2007 it was sold to J.M.Ashcroft at Sheffield. In 2007 it went into store with the Jet Provost Club at Bournemouth (Hurn) and is believed still registered on the UK civilian register.
