Schleicher ASK-13 BGA.1861 near Rufforth.
On 7th August 1982 this glider was given an aerotow launch at Rufforth airfield to 2000 feet above the ground. After casting off, the pilot found that the glider began to loose height quickly. He attempted to turn back toward the airfield but then deceided that he could not reach the airfield at the rate it was descending. He attempted to land in a field just less than three miles from the airfield but groundlooped in attempting to avoid a heap of rubble and was damaged. The glider was registered to the Ouse Gliding Club and was based at Rufforth.
