EoN AP-10-460 BGA.1343 near Edenthorpe.
On Sunday, 31st August 1980 this glider launched from Doncaster airfield. The glider drifted too far downwind of the airfield and at 12.30hrs, after two hours of flight, the pilot selected a stubble field to make a landing in near Edenthorpe. In making a turn for this field he drifted too close to some trees. The pilot feared that he would not clear these trees so attempted to land in an adjacent cornfield but the tail fin caught on a 66.000 volt power line. This then pulled the glider into the ground and it was damaged. In 1981 this glider was registered to P.Stirk and may well have been his when this incident occurred at Edenthorpe.
