Grumman-American AA-5B Tiger G-BGCJ at Doncaster airfield.

On 6th September 1979 a severe fire in a hanger at Doncaster airfield destroyed and damaged several aircraft. The fire was believed to have been started deliberately and the offender was reported to have been caught in the act. The identities of those destroyed are known and were:

Laverda F-8L Falco 4 G-AVUJ. Destroyed.
Grumman-American AA-5B Tiger G-BGCJ. Destroyed.
Grumman-American AA-5 Traveller G-BBSA. Later repaired.
Grumman-American AA-5 Traveller G-BCIL. Later repaired.
Reims-Cessna F.152 G-BHFC. Later repaired.

G-BGCJ was owned by Mr Michael Alexander Leniham, trading as M.A.Leniham and Associates. He probably based the aircraft at Doncaster airfield. It was badly damaged as a result of the fire and was not repaired.
