Reims Cessna F.150J G-BFSR near Netherthorpe airfield.
On 9th December 1978 this aircraft suffered engine failure on take-off from Netherthorpe airfield. The pilot attempted to make a forced landing in ploughed field around a mile southwest of the airfield but the wheels sunk and the aircraft overturned. Possible carburettor icing was suspected.
The aircraft was registered to Aviation Advisory Services and was based at Stapleford airfield, Essex until three days before this accident. There is then a gap in the dates for the next registered owner, Aero Group 78, of Walton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire, who registered it on 5th March 1979. It may have been with Aero Group 78 earlier than their registration date.
