Jet Provost T.5a XW424 at Linton on Ouse airfield.

On Saturday, 30th April 1977 this No.1 Flying Training School aircraft was being flown on an aerobatics training exercise over Linton on Ouse airfield with an instructor at the controls when it struck the ground pulling out of a dive. The pilot was seriously injured and spent at least three weeks in a coma in hospital.

Pilot - F/Lt Ronald Richard Joseph Dowler RAF (608777). Injured.


Ronald Dowler was from Belfast. He was a flying instructor at No.1 F.T.S. and was married with an infant child at the time of this accident. He subsequently left the RAF in 1978 owing to medical unfitness that stemmed from this flying accident.
