Reims Cessna F.172G Skyhawk G-ATRE at Grindale airstrip.

At around 17.00hrs on 28th February 1977 this aircraft overturned on take off from Grindale airstrip when the wheels dug into a soft surface. The airstrip was (and still is) at East Leys Farm. The pilot and three passengers appear to have escaped injury. Bartenstein Ltd, of Preston, almost certainly owned this aircraft at the time despite the registration not being transferred to them until 14th March 1977. Whether it was loaned to the parachuting club at Grindale is not known.
