Cessna F.172F Skyhawk G-ASWL near Rudston.
On 12th August 1975 this aircraft had taken off from Grindale club airstrip with a parachutist on board. While it was in the air fog came in over the land and the pilot could not locate Grindale airstrip or Carnaby airfield so, with the aircraft running low on fuel, the pilot made a forced landing in a wheat field near Rudston. It appears to have been undamaged but owing to the crop in the field it was left there until it had been harvested. At the time of this incident the aircraft was registered to Mr Guy Reed, of Asenby, North Yorkshire.
Pilot - Mr Tony Moore.
