Bulldog T.1 XX621 near Towton.
On 18th September 1974 this aircraft was being flown by a member of the Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron, based at Church Fenton, when the pilot was forced to land short of the airfield close to the Towton to Ulleskelf road at around 16.00hrs. The aircraft later had the wings removed and it was towed back to Church Fenton airfield by a Landrover. The Yorkshire Universities Air Squadron was formed five years before this incident when the Leeds and Hull University Air Squadrons merged.
