Shield G Xyla G-AWPN (probably) at Doncaster airfield.

Yorkshire Air News record that in May 1974 that the home-built Shield Xyla was noted as having been repaired at Doncaster in May 1974. Exactly when and how damage resulted is not stated and I have no other information. The aircraft was a home-built one by Mr George William Shield, of Conisborough. He was the headmaster of Mexborough Grammar School and this aircraft was designed and built by himself. It was first flown in October 1971 at Hemswell airfield. He later based his aircraft at Doncaster airfield. His first was the Shield Luton LA4A Minor G-ATFW which first flew at Kirton in Lindsey in 1967. Xyla was probably his second aircraft and the third was Xiphi.

Pilot - Name unknown.
