Jet Provost T.5 XW331 at Leeming airfield.
On 11th April 1973 Jet Provost XW331, of No.3 Flying Training School was being flown on a training exercise that involved practicing simulated engine failure / flame outs at Leeming airfield. The aircraft was
then badly damaged when the nose wheel collapsed following a heavy landing at Leeming.

Jet Provost XW331 was built to contract KC/E/124 by BAC Ltd. initially at Luton but was completed at Warton and was awaiting collection on 27th November 1970. Three days later it was taken on charge by
No.3 Flying Training School at Leeming. As a result of landing damage sustained on 11th April 1973 Cat.4R damage was the initial damage assessment but this was later upgraded to Re.Cat.5(c). On 16th May
1973 it went for Leeming Fire Rescue Training but cannot have been burnt, though it was struck off charge it later went to NEVVA at Lambton Castle, Chester-le-Street. On 6th October 1977 it went to
Northumbrian Aeronautical Collage at Usworth and on 5th August 1978 it went to Foulness armaments testing range.
