Slingsby T.31B Tandem Tutor BGA.887 near Pocklington airfield.

On Sunday, 9th May 1971 this glider was flown by two members of the Leeds Gliding Club from their gliding site at Pocklington airfield. The glider undershot the landing which saw it fly through two fences and also crash across the Pocklington to Barmby Moor road near Pocklington airfield. Both the pilot and a gliding instructor sustained injuries, the pilot being the most seriously injured. A car that was parked on the edge of the airfield and that contained spectators was also struck causing minor damage. The glider was owned by Leeds Gliding Club and in the newspapers of the day it was recorded as being their first crash since it formed four and half years ago.
