Rollason Druine D.62B Condor G-AXGT near Edlington.
On Thursday, 1st July 1971 this aircraft was being flown by a pupil and an instructor. During the exercise the pupil pilot made a practice forced landing near Edlington with little or no power from the engine, the pupil then attempted to apply power and climb away in a turn but the aircraft stalled. The instructor took control but was unable to prevent the aircraft from striking the ground. The aircraft was damaged but it was later repaired.
The aircraft was registered to Mr Norman Herbert Jones, of Surrey, who owned a large number of aircraft. He almost certainly leased out aircraft to clubs and in this case G-AXGT was probably leased to Sherburn Aero Club.
