Schempp-Hirth SHK-1 BGA.1390 glider at Doncaster airfield.
Very little about this incident is known other than on Sunday, 9th June 1968 a wing of this glider fell off during a flight at around 500ft over Doncaster airfield. The glider spun into the ground and the pilot was killed.
Pilot - Mr Harvey J Coule. Aged 38. Burial location unknown.
Harvey Coule lived in the Pontefract area. He was a night club proprietor, ran the Kon Tiki caberet club in Wakefield and owned the "Lucky Seven Entertainments Ltd". He was also a Doncaster Gliding Club member and owned Fournier RF-4D G-AVWY which was subsequently sold after his death. He was married with two children.
