University of Birmingham Air Squadron was based at Shawbury during July 1967 but undertook their Annual Summer Camp at Binbrook during this month. As part of the flying exercises the unit used Strubby and Leconfield to undertake circuit flying exercises and on 18th July 1967 this aircraft was badly damaged in a crash at Leconfield airfield. It sustained damage to the outer portion of the starboard wing.
