Vulcan B.2 XH556 at Finningley airfield.

On 18th April 1966 this 230 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft was having it's engines started on the ground at Finningley airfield. When Number Three engine was started when an electrical fault in the undercarriage selection system caused the undercarriage to collapse. Various members of ground crew underneath the aircraft narrowly avoided being crushed the aircraft sank on to it's belly. The nose of the aircraft broke off and a fire developed which then further badly damaged the aircraft.
