On Sunday, 4th April 1965 this glider took off from the Ouse Flying Club's Rufforth airfield flying site and crashed seven minutes later near Tadcaster. Newspaper
reports state that the pilot escaped injury.
Pilot - Mr Gordon Hoyle, aged 40. Of Lee Mount, Halifax.
Gordon Hoyle worked for the Kitchen and Wade Ltd engineering company in Halifax in the 1950s and was involved in making a second hand glider, purchased by the Halifax Gliding Club at Crosland Moor, servicable. He had been the engineer at the Halifax Gliding Club in the 1960s.
