Unidentified Varsity damaged in the air, landed at Topcliffe airfield.
Between 1st and 3rd September 1965 four Varsity aircraft of Air Electronics School, Topcliffe took part in an overseas training flight. On 1st September 1965 they flew from Topcliffe to Wildenrath which transported ten students from No.44 Air Signaller Course there. On 3rd September 1965 the four aircraft flew the return flight to Topcliffe but on this flight one of the Varsity's was struck by lightning which saw it sustain superficial damage. The four Varsitys that were used on this flight were WJ909, WF418, WJ948 and WF333. Which one was damaged is not stated in the unit records.
