Lightning F.2 XN793 damaged in the air, landed at Leconfield airfield.
On 24th September 1964 this 92 Squadron aircraft took off from Leconfield airfield without the canopy properly locked. As it picked up speed the canopy broke away, it struck and damaged the tailplane and the leading edge of the fin. The pilot was able to remain in control and made a normal landing.
