Cessna 172B Skyhawk G-ARFJ near Barwick in Elmet.
On Sunday, 19th July 1964 this aircraft was flown from Rennes, France to Sherburn in Elmet airfield. The following day, on Monday, 20th July 1964 it took off from Sherburn and headed north but had not been refuelled. The destination was probably Leeds-Bradford airfield. Several miles after taking off the aircraft then ran out of fuel. The pilot attempted a forced landing in Barwick in Elmet area but it struck a wall in the selected field and was damaged. The aircraft was owned by Bruce Robinson, of Selby, Yorkshire who probably operated it from Sherburn in Elmet airfield.
