DH.82A Tiger Moth G-ANIY at Doncaster airfield.

This aircraft was owned by the Doncaster Flying Group, Doncaster, South Yorkshire and the pilot flying it on this date was one of the six trustees of the club. Its main role appears to have been for tow launching gliders. On Tuesday, 27th June 1961 this aircraft took off at Doncaster, reached around 150 feet above the ground and then spun into the ground in the middle of Doncaster airfield. The pilot was injured but the passenger was killed. Both men lived in the Doncaster area.

Pilot - Mr Frank Haigh. Injured.

Passenger - Mr James Loring. Aged 38, of Bawtry Road, Doncaster. Killed. Burial location unknown.
