Blackburn NA.39 XK487 damaged in the air, landed at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield.

On 30th August 1960 this prototype aircraft was being test flown when the jet pipe suffered heat damage. The pilot landed at Holme on Spalding Moor airfield. The aircraft was built and owned by Blackburn Aircraft Ltd. of Holme on Spalding Moor.

This prototype NA.39 was built to contract 6/ACFT/11790/CB.9(a) by Blackburn Aircraft Ltd. at Brough and was first flown on 27th August 1958. It was retained at Holme on Spalding Moor by Blackburns. In 1959 it went to the A&AEE. In June 1960 it was returned to Blackburn's at Holme on Spalding Moor and as a result of the heat damage sustained on 30th August 1960 Cat.4R damage was the damage assessment. It was repaired on site but this took until January 1963 when it was flown again and with a TSR2 radome fitted. In 1965 it went to Ferranti Ltd. at Turnhouse sustained Cat.3R damage whilst with Ferranti. In April 1966 it went to HSA Ltd. at Holme on Spalding Moor and in December 1966 it went to RAE at Farnborough. On 17th May 1967 it was struck off charge. In July 1968 it went onto the fire dump at Farnborough and by end of September 1968 it had been burnt.
