Aircraft accidents in Yorkshire.

Meteor NF.12 WS611 at Church Fenton airfield.

On 11th July 1958 this 72 Squadron aircraft was taking off from Church Fenton airfield when an undercarriage leg sustained some form of damage which then saw it being jammed. It was then possibly further damaged on the resulting landing at Church Fenton.

Pilot - S/Ldr Geoffrey Edward Young MiD RAF (182628).

Navigator - Name unknown.

Geoffrey Young was awarded a Mention in Despatches in 1956 in recognition of gallant and distinguished service in Malaya.
