During a flight on 20th August 1958 the nose cowling fractured and broke off, as it bent and broke off it damaged the starboard side of the fuseland and cracked the starboard side of the windscreen. The pilot was able to land the No.1 Flying Training School aircraft safely at Linton on Ouse airfield.
