This aircraft served with St.Andrews University Air Squadron, based at Leuchars. The squadron moved to Lindholme on 12th June 1958 to begin their detachment for an annual summer camp there on 15th June 1958. On 11th July 1958 the course ended and the squadron returned to St.Andrews. The squadron Chipmunk was due to be flown back but suffered engine failure soon after taking off, the pilot attempted a forced landing near Thorne but it overturned.
