On 7th October 1957 this Fighter Weapons School aircraft was hit by a ricochet during an air to ground firing exercise, probably on the range at Skipsea. The pilot was able to remain in control and made a landing at Leconfield airfield but the damage to the starboard wing tip was assessed and the aircraft was repaired. The Fighter Weapons School moved from Leconfield to Driffield airfield on 2nd October 1957, just days before this incident.
