On 11th September 1957 this Fighter Weapons School was being flown on a rocket firing exercise over a gunnery range, probably the range at Skipsea, when the rocket rail dislodged in the air and subsequently penetrated the fuselage. The pilot remained in control of the aircraft and landed base of Leconfield airfield. It was not repaired.
