The 228 Operational Conversion Unit record book gives the following information, but without an exact date, that in March 1956 this 228 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft struck a bird whilst in the air which made a hole in the leading edge of the starboard wing. The pilot went on to land normally at Leeming airfield.
