Brooklands Winged Target glider near Arram.

On 16th May 1956 a Fighter Weapons School Meteor undertook towing duties for an air to air firing exercise over the North Sea off Yorkshire. The target was a Brooklands Winged Target glider. While on the approach to land at Leconfield airfield on Runway No.23 the glider was too low and it struck a house at Chapel Garth, at Arram. The occupant, Mrs Florence Summers, escaped injury. The Meteor, and probably the glider, went on to make it onto the airfield with the Meteor landing normally.
