Between Monday, 28th March 1955 and 7th April 1955 the Hull University Air Squadron held an Easter training camp at Brough airfield which saw thirteen first year H.U.A.S. members attend. The aim was to give them continuous training to get them to the standard required for solo flying but poor weather saw limited flying being done. Only one cadet managed to get to the standard of flying solo during the camp. This Chipmunk was one of five available to the unit. On the first day of the camp Chipmunk WP777 undershot a landing at Brough airfield, it struck an embankment (possibly a railway embankment), bounced then broke up. The cadet is named but given that he was not the one who made the solo standard during the week and it was the first day he must have been with an instructor.
Pupil Pilot - Cadet Pilot Raymond Tennison RAF (2608749).
