Venom NF.2 WL852 at Driffield airfield.

On the night of 29th December 1955 two 219 Squadron Venoms were due to be flown on night flying exercises. The first took off from Driffield airfield but the second received damage while on the runway when it struck a sodium light. The runway became blocked for ninety minutes which then saw the airborne aircraft diverted to land at Linton on Ouse airfield.

Pilot - F/Lt John Antony Joseph Farrell RAF (1609671).

Navigator - F/Lt J E Bent (probably F/Lt James Ernest Bent RAF (4036286)).
