On 12th December 1955 this Fighter Weapons School aircraft suffered the nose wheel collaping in landing at Leconfield. Sparks generated then set the aircraft on fire.

Gerald Jonas was killed on 31st March 1965 when Auster XP253 crashed near Broughton, south-west of Stockbridge, Hampshire.
