More details are required to document this incident properly. The basics are that on 14th April 1955 this No.8 Flying Training School aircraft belly landed at Leconfield airfield, possibly in error. The belly fuel tank split and the aircraft caught fire. The damage was not repaired and the aircraft was eventually struck off charge.

Meteor VT235 was built to contract 6/ACFT/658 by Gloster Aircraft Ltd. at Hucclecote and was delivered to the C.F.E. at West Raynham on 5th August 1948. On 19th August 1949 a Cat.A(c) repair was required. On 29th August 1949 it was returned to C.F.E. charge. On 7th January 1951 the aircraft was transferred to 245 Squadron at Horsham St.Faith. On 3rd August 1951 it was transferred to 611 Squadron at Hooton Park. On 6th September 1951 Cat.3R damage resulted when the ventral tank split during refuelling at Hooton Park and damaged the centre section. It was repaired on site and later, on 4th June 1952, it passed to 12 MU at Kirkbride. On 7th July 1953 it was taken on charge by 203 Advanced Flying School at Driffield. On 29th January 1954 it received Cat.3R damage when it sank on take off at Driffield in a cross wind and hit the runway. The aircraft was then repaired on site and was returned to 203 A.F.S. charge on 24th February 1954. On 1st June 1954 203 A.F.S. was re-designated No.8 Flying Training School at Driffield. On 14th April 1955 it made a wheels up landing at Leconfield, the belly tank split open and it caught fire. Cat.4R damage was the initial damage assessment which would have seen it taken away for repair. Later it was inspected by 60 MU from Rufforth and the assessment was upgraded to Re.Cat.5C which saw it struck off charge.
