G.A.L.42 Cygnet II G-AGAX near Barnsley.

Information in respect of this incident is somewhat vague and I am hunting for additional information. Believed to have been on 4th April 1955 this aircraft overturned during a forced landing possibly in the Barnsley area. I have also a basic note from the late historian Eric Barton that the forced landing was in a bog at "Midhope Common, nr Barnsley". He also has a suggested date of 19th April 1955. The Midhope area isn't near Barnsley though, it's on the eastern edge of the Peak District. There are no newspaper reports on the BNA that I can find that mention the incident, the newspaper that might was the Barnsley Cronicle but the BNA do not yet have the 1950s period in the archive.

Pilot - Name unknown.

At the time of this incident the aircraft was owned by Ralph Lamprell, of Airviews Ltd, Manchester (Ringway). They operated an aerial photography business. The aircraft was listed as destroyed but this was not recorded until 31st August 1956.
