On Wednesday, 13th January 1954 this 275 Squadron helicopter took off from Linton on Ouse but soon after taking off the engine cut out. The pilot attempted to force land during an auto-rotation but the rotors struck trees in a small orchard at Linton Lock and the aircraft tipped over onto it's port side when it hit the ground. Both crew members sustained minor injuries and the aircraft was badly damaged.
