On 1st December 1954 this 72 Squadron aircraft suffered hydraulic failure in the air. The pilot was able to fly back to his home airfield at Church Fenton but then made a forced landing on the grass at the side the runway, presumably with the undercarriage retracted. A Cat.4R damage assessment was made which saw it then being transferred to 32 MU at St.Athan for a repair in works.
