The aircraft is listed in No.60 Maintenance Unit's record book as being servicable at Thornaby during September 1954. What caused an earlier damage assessment to be made and when this occurred are not known. It was probably a Cat.2 damage assessment rather than anything higher. At the time this aircraft was on charge with 608 Squadron and was based at Thornaby.
