The aircraft is listed in No.60 Maintenance Unit's record book as being given a Re-Cat damage assessment in February 1954 at Full Sutton airfield. What caused the initial damage assessment to be made and when this occurred are not known. At the time this aircraft was on charge with No.207 Advanced Flying School and was based at Full Sutton. To receive a Re-Cat damage assessment it must have been deemed in need of a repair in the weeks prior to this.
This related to it receiving a Re-Cat.4 damage assessment in February 1954, it was then transported by road to AST Ltd at Hamble for a planned repair in works but on 7th May 1954 the damage was again reassessed and further upgraded to Re-Cat.5 that saw it struck off charge.
