On 24th February 1954 this aircraft had a Cat.4R damage assessment made against it. At the time it was on charge with No.215 Advanced Flying School and was based at Finningley. What caused the damage assessment to be made is not yet known. This was a very old aircraft at the time and there appears little interest in repairing it. On 30th June 1954 it was eventually transported to Flight Refuelling Ltd. at Tarrant Rushton where it was converted to a U.15 drone, with the work being completed in April 1955 after which it was taken to 47 MU at Burtonwood.
