Unidentified Varsity II at Lindholme airfield.

On 9th April 1954 a Bomber Command Bombing School was flying in the landing circuit of Lindholme airfield when the crew signalled that they were going to make an emergency landing as the engines had cut out. The aircraft made a hurried landing but touched down near to the airfield boundary. It could not stop on the remaining airfield and ran through the boundary fence, ran across the main Thorne to Bawtry road and came to rest in a field adjacent to a caravan site. The caravans housed RAF families.
