On 28th January 1954 the Bomber Command Bombing School record book stated that "the runway controller reported that a bomb had exploded in an aircraft on the airfield. There were no serious results". This unit was based at Lindholme airfield at the time.

Canberras WJ728 and WE193 were both passed as servicable by 60 MU at Lindholme following repairs made on site owing to unknown reasons. One of these may be the one damaged on 28th January 1954. Both were with No.231 Operational Training Unit and based at Bassingbourn at the time.
