Meteor NF.11 WM265 at Leeming airfield.

On 1st October 1953 the pilot of this 228 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft suspected that the aircraft had caught fire in the air during a training flight. Whether or not it actually had is unclear but he went on to make a belly landing at Leeming airfield with the drop tanks still attached. A fire then occurred on the ground which must have been swiftly put out by the crash crew.
