On 30th April 1953 this pilot was flying this Central Gunnery School aircraft when he experienced engine vibrations, he shut the engine down and landed. A minor incident was listed in the unit records but nothing appears to have been done to correct what must have been an engine problem. Several days later, during a practice interception of other aircraft and whilst being flown at 20,000 feet on 12th May 1953 the pilot heard a bang and then felt the port engine vibrating. He shut down the engine and went on to land normally where he was based at Leconfield.
