On Friday, 5th June 1953 this 215 Advanced Flying School aircraft suffered the starboard engine fail soon after taking off from Finningley airfield. A short time later the port engine failed. Unable to make it back to Finningley the pilot made a forced landing north east of the airfield. The damage cannot have been too severe as the aircraft was not written off after this incident, it must have been repaired. Exactly where this incident occurred is unclear. The precise distance of 3.75 miles north east of Finningley airfield is quoted and this would put it as being near Wroot, Lincolnshire. The Yorkshire boundary runs very close to Wroot and depending on where this happened it may be in Yorkshire, hence this webpage.
