On 30th March 1953 this 228 Operational Conversion Unit aircraft swung on take off at Leeming airfield, while the pilot then corrected the swing and took off, it suffered a burst tyre. The pilot flew around for some time to burn off fuel and then went on to make a belly landing back at Leeming airfield.
